Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Voluntary?

Anyone hearing of any voluntary offerings (like they did last summer)? I would be interested in taking advantage of the lump sum pension offering, but I am not sure if they will do it again?

It’s been asked at every meeting, call, chat, conference etc and the answer is NO...they only have plans to reduce U.S employee headcount by one way and that is by lay-off they will time such as to keep the numbers out of current reportings and as well as to keep whatever spin they would like to put on it since CNN is a Time Warner subsidiary and as well as to keep from having to report it as a mass layoff all though we all know the real truth.

Finance was given voluntary retirement options. I believe most of the target reduction goals in finance were met with the voluntary separations. The separations were awarded by seniority.

You will just need to quit. Also came in and saw no message about all the layoffs yesterday, only an email about who won Diamond Club. I guess we are just supposed to pretend it didnt happen.

I can't believe this question but the Lump Sum option has been available to Legacy SBC and Legacy T Managers since last June (Bellsouth already had it) so you don't need to wait for an offer to retire. If you retire before 4/1 it will be considerably higher as the Interest Rate Hikes last year will reduce it 7-12K per 100K after 4/1. Good Luck
