I believe this is the combination of “good” timing and the fact that the company has influence on the mainstream media. This just shows that this was systematically planned, as was the masking of the whole thing was carefully planned.I believe that this will not have any significant place in the media, no matter what the extent of the layoffs is going to be.

You need to read the posts on this site before posting. The ATO/TFS Townhall hosted by the TFS President and with an HR/AVP representative on the panel last Weds stated that 8% of TFS Management overall would be surplussed in the next two weeks. That is several thousand employees as she has span of control over 52,050 employees. Not sure why you would post nonsense on a layoff Board.
How may people got laid off, or more correctly, got notices today? Probably less than a 1000, maybe less than 500. And some will get new jobs within the company.

The media treats ATT like they do the government. They ask them a question and print/broadcast the answer they're given. Then they move on to the next thing. The media stopped doing meaningful investigations of anything when they were bought out by corporate America. Corporate America and its subsidiary the US government have no interest in potentially embarassing questions being asked.
AT&T owns CNN... just saying
ATT likes to redirect such questions of a layoff with, "But we have hired over 20000 people in the last year. We are just re-balancing our workforce to handle the new ATT" Then they will go on and talk about their FAUX 5G and how they are now a content company like Google"
You are correct. When the news of the 2019 lay-offs broke around Jan. 8th or 9th, AT&T got one day of bad press and then nothing further. Same with prior lay-offs. The media contact AT&T for comment, and AT&T says that the lay-offs are not significant and that they are still hiring and that's that.
