Verizon Employment Verification and Background Check

I used to work for Verizon a while ago. I am filling an application where the new employer is asking about the Verizon employment dates, manager's name and phone number. I don't know/remember the manager's current phone number, and think that he is now an individual contributor.

Is there a HR phone number that I can use ? For example, give the ex manager name but give the phone number of HR. I assume that Verizon will only verify the starting and ending dates.

How have you folks handled the above situation?

Just make sure it’s 100% accurate cause they check everything!

TheWorkNumber doesn't have older employment data. They referred me back to verizon but I can't get a human to deal with this.

You can contact the Work Number directly, and they will show you how to download a PDF copy of your work history, and then you can present it to the employer yousourself. Most new employers will not deal with the directly, and normally want a live VZ HR for a reference check. Cannot ask former mgrs., Most of them are gone.

As people have previously said you have to point the new employers to WWW.TheWorkNumber.com. If you were in VES part of Verizon you more than likely to have a issue when it come to your HIRE date. When Verizon acquired MCI, MCI was branded as Verizon Business then several other name, and finally Verizon Enterprise Solutions (Your.Name@One.verizon.com). The date (12/26/2010) that occurred they changed the HIRE date of several employees to 12/26/2010 even though their service date is the original HIRE date. Some people have had issues with possible new Employers saying they found the applicants HIRE date to be what the applicants said it is. Basically calling applicants liars and the applicants employee not getting the job.

To obtain verification of your previous Verizon employment, please go to The Work Number or call 1-866-604-6572 (former employees) or 1-800-367-5690 (verifiers). You will need the Verizon company code 10303. If this request is for a former Verizon Wireless employee, please use company code 11708.

Verizon will only verify past employment. If you are using your old manager as a personal reference, you'd have to have his/her phone number.
