So transformation, focus on apps...that and other thread about rented data centers makes me wonder, is the TK "vision" of O stuff running on other clouds going to be what happens even though TK left because it was not favored?
What happens to all the HPC projects advertised as running on bare metal cloud?
"Seriously, anyone who posts that they are “100% sure” that a RIF is coming has an obligation to give as much detail as possible without risking identifying themselves. "
Maybe not an obligation, but if they want to be taken seriously they should, otherwise they will be lumped in with all the trolls who post here incessantly.
Agreed, Jan 17th was correct but provided zero details outside of the date. Sadly that is all the heads up we ever get. This one is more specific as it lists the date and a way to determine what divisions get cut... the ones losing or not making money.
My guess is the biggest money loser is cloud. Oracle rented space in 12 data centers around the globe in their pretend "roll out" of next gen IAAS and PAAS. How much money is that making? My guess is it shows up as a big red expense number. You know how accountants hate red numbers. That coupled with the other rumor that Oracle is going for apps and quietly dropping out of the cloud race makes me think...
Who knows?

expecting company to come bk with major transformation. ppl on round table talking of new strategy. cloud is past and could cause some friction. with last 2 quatrs, 2019FY still has lot left in the plate.
If there were true to their word they would start by getting rid of LE, MH and SC - each of whom costs hundreds of millions of dollars and each of whom makes a huge NEGATIVE contribution to oracle !!!

@XizFo00-mmt are you able to tell us what pillars will be affected according to your knowledge?
@XizFo00-fzd, the initials of the founder (co-founder?) of O. I usually didn't see his middle name, so I googled it. Turns out it's Joseph. You might be more familiar with LE - the 3 in charge are LE, MH, and SC.
Who is LJE please?
Oracle isn't running a charity. They'll support customers with generous sunset provisions, because enterprise is what we do, but LE didn't become a billionnaire by chasing negative cash flow.
Not sure about your exact rumour, but there is 100% an up coming RIF. My VP has shown me the list being built for their org. I have no idea on total numbers, what areas of Oracle will be hit, etc., but I know there is a RIF coming under LJE
Given that Oracle makes $10B profit per year, I don't think that there are many (if any) unprofitable divisions. There are divisions whose sales (and thus profits) are shrinking, and they will get whacked with big layoffs (like the Sun division did in 2017) but they won't be shut down.
