Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Any word on contractors being layed off?

It was rumoured that contractors would be layed off back in Dec 2018? Was anyone impacted? I'm asking because I'm considering a contract role at Cisco; but reading mixed messages about contractors in CX.

CX is a very confused place right now with lots of uncertainty so plan to escape CX before you are LRed next

Unfortunately, the team I joined a year ago was “re-org’d” into CX a couple of months before the Nov ‘18 LR. Makes me worry about how long my role will last.

We have an open req that everyone agrees is a critical role to fulfill our team’s mission, but we can’t get funding to fill it.

Let’s just fail & waste our entire budget because we can’t increase the budget & take a little less profit to fill a necessary role. Seems short-sighted to me.

just hire a few contractors... no benefits, job security, or human rights. there is really no reason to hire full-time employees anymore.

They’re probably hiring as they now realise (some of) the latest layoffs were a mistake. Good strategic planning at the front as ever. None of those laid off (red or blue) could possibly have changed role, could they. Getting to know Cisco is a task in itself when you first start, so they have thrown away valuable tacit knowledge needlessly.

Headless and chicken come to mind...

Don't join CX if possible. LRs are absolute nightmare in Cisco CX
