As a Unit Manager I am offended. Small Bonus once a year. Over 60+ hours a week on call 24/7 have full P&L response ability. Route ride with SDL for a full day only to go back to the office to do my job. Frontline may think that we do nothing but keep in mind many of us did their job for several years before becoming a Unit Manager. The work may not be as physical but more stressful as they are accountable for every department and employee in that building. Maybe your Unit manager was not surfing the web but rather adding innovation to the orders that was missed so he/she can improve the CR score for running the play that they forgot to run. Then you state when they are their your upset on going back to your work area? He or she probably has a weekly cost call with HQ on the poor results of your teams execution or lack of productivity happening while he is away. Sure their are probably some out their that may not be doing the job. To that I would say work with your HR representatives to expose the issues if they are legitimate. Otherwise find something else that you like to do as no one wants a unhappy worker on their team and no one should not like what they do and stay. I stated above 60+ hours a week and on call 24/7 with a surprise very small once a year bonus but I love what I do so I do it with a smile. I also take great pride as a former frontline employee I can help remove barriers that used to frustrate me to make it a better place to work.
