Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The difference between severance packages

I know I’m risking that my question could be labeled as stupid, but I don’t know anything on the subject , so here it goes. I’m a WM employee, and in the case that I get laid off from the company, what severance package would I be offered, the “standard” on that WM offered to cut employees before the merge, or some package that AT&T is offering. What rules apply after the merger? There is some logic to the conclusion that we would get some package designed by AT&T, given that they are performing the restructure as the mother company.Any chance that someone knows what’s the difference between these severance packages, WM before the merger and the one AT&T is offering?

You will receive the package that costs the least to get you out the door.....you can count on that to be true!

@crd: Making a local copy is pointless. The documents are subject to change at any time with no notice required. Having an outdated version gets you nothing but frustration.

Depending on the acquisition agreement, the Old TW policy may or may not remain in place for some period of time. That would be a question for your HR people. Usually the acquired company policy will remain intact for about 6 months.

From my experience it really depends on the terms agreed to at the timer of the merger and how long those terms are in effect.

If 5 people respond, you will get 5 different answers, all of them may be wrong. Rather than solicit opinions call your HR rep and ask the question and request to be shown it in writing. Being a current T employee, I know where my HR docs are stored for severance, and I made a copy for personal reference in case they try to pull the wool over my eyes.
