Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Why do you stay at Sam's?

I'm wondering, since so many people seem so unhappy working here, what is it that's making you stay?

I personally like my job. It pays okay compared to other retailers, I like the people I work with and most of the time the work is not hard.

But there seems to be so many of you who don't enjoy working here, so this is an honest question: why do you stay?

Reason I stay: much of my off time I am too mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted to look for something else

Clearly no one has been explained the new PTO/ Attendance policy. The only thing it took away was that you can’t call

Off 3 consecutive days to be counted for 1 day. It actually is going to Benefit hourlys, esp long termers and full timers. And with block scheduling/headcount there will be a ton of full time positions if your aviailibilty is open. For attendance Now you can accrue protected PTO and any time you call out using that (doesn’t matter what you call out for) you can’t be held accountable or given a ‘point’. However if you call out on a holiday or event day it will be double points. Basically 5 call outs without protected PTO will be terminal, which is exactly what the policy was before. The only difference is that it is now black and white, and not each Asist. manager deciding weather your hospital note is “real” and as far as AMs not approving holidays for PTO we are forbidden from doing so. What retail dept do you know of that gives you off major holidays?!?! Let’s be thankful we’re not 24hrs and are closed or shut down early on all major holidays

You mentioned the PTO changing has it really changed that much all that is taken away is 48 hours used for protected PTO per year which actually helps you if you're late or call in otherwise I think you earn the same as before just 48 hours less

Many of the people who comment don't even work for Sam's. You have no idea who is commenting. Hence, anonymity...

I was staying for the PTO. Now that they changed the PTO policy I am looking elsewhere.

Well this site really isn’t the place to come and talk about how great Sam’s is. If you want some type of positivity try Reddit for Sam’s Associates. Not the Layoffs site. LOL
