What’s the news on pharmacy and optical? Does anyone know what changes are coming for these areas?

To the uninformed person who thinks being a pharmacy technician is easy, you obviously have never been one. You have to be certified as well. The stress level in this position is very

high. I'm pretty sure that being an optician you don't run the chance at killing someone everyday while doing your job. We get pulled in 5 directions all day. You have to input pr-scrip-ions, wait on members, answer the phones, count pr-scrip-ions all while trying not to f..k up your meds. Do you have that stress hanging over your head all day.

This was covered on the wire and club communications this week. Check out banner on first page, something like how we are changing is the heading. Health and wellness specifically mentioned.

There's a reason opticians get paid more than most. It's not easy work. It definitely looks that way from the outside, but it's not. There's a reason a lot of states require a license/schooling/apprenticeship. If you want an easy high paying job, that's pharmacy technicians. Thought about going back myself for the lower stress.

The new extra strong push for optical using the ipads...and higher ups going around making sure of it...is because one day soon the optical will be more of a self serve area. The company is trying to get the members use to the new technology so it's not as much of a shell shock. But mark my words...optical will go down to a staff of one soon and thatll mainly be for adjusments, dispenses and repairs. And the company is having the current optical staff basically train the members to do it all themselves. This company is a piece of work. They will never get rid of optical...but they will get rid of the people. Just like they are doing every where else in the store. You can't expect this company to not try and think of a way to get optical staff down...they are one od the top paid areas im the stores because of the certifications. Good luck

Hopefully Optical goes away. Always a waste of payroll over there. Only should have people the days the doctor works. Other than that they sit all day. And make more money than most floor partners who ring register, drive forklifts, do door breaks, push carts, do resets, do actual member service, help out in fresh...but dont worry floor partners make the least money

Watch for good people to get let go for bogus reasons and some departments to close up completely if there not making enough money.
