Maybe 5G will turn things around, but it could also fry us.

Verizon did the same thing when they launched their 4G and we b--ched about it then. Basically someone decided to beat them to the punch.
Stephenson and Donovan will continue to screw up the launch of 5G. Calling the LTE 5G E was stupid and to look like we are ahead of other carriers when we aren't. Leave to Randy and JD to mess up the launch as they drag the company down
5G hopefully will be the next leap (next generation) wireless data network that will link and connect everything in our society. Tens of thousands more ipv6 addresses will be fed to the Internet, making it even larger and more and more dependent on. There is a caveat: an almost autonomous network (much like Skynet hehe).
As far as jobs, there will be always the need for manpower (aka brainpower). This will ensure the need for a new way of thinking from companies top leaders (maybe brand new leaders!) all the way down to the front line. Keep studying little grasshoppers!
The sad part of 5Ge is that t-mobile's current LTE network is faster than our 5Ge.
Imagine a 5G small cell somewhere in your neighborhood that your router connects to directly. That router is drop shipped to your home. Of course you would go online to have your service turned up. What would be the impact on employees? Just thinking out of the box but a lot of that technology is available now.
They will do something stupid like they do now and screw up 5G. Probably bundle it with DTV.
again, what apps or use cases will the basic wireless subscriber need 5g for? the new ip based network does it all. its an app based industry along with texting. thats what people use. the industry won't be able to pass along additional costs. this reminds me of the old speed tiers or session based pricing model the industry thought it could jack up rates....didnt work
Disagree about 5g being smoke and mirrors. With 5ge I've already noticed my speeds going from 10/20mgps up to 90/100mgps.
True 5g will be that much faster. Also with CRan, cell tower buildouts for FirstNet i do believe the network will get that much bigger. Just have to hope at&t does that rihht thing and allow the boots on the ground to do what they need to do and also cut all the processes, procedures and red tape to allow us to work.
From what i see that is THE biggest difference between at&t and competitors.
5g is a lot of hype. the industry is pushing it because there are no growth opportunities in wireless and it's all smoke and mirrors. 4GLTE has given the subscriber what they need....
T mobile leadership team is eating our lunch. The ONLY thing that will turn around AT&T is new layers of executive leadership AT THE TOP. Just like IBM hired outsider Lou Gerstner in the early 1990s who made the elephant dance, AT&T needs OUTSIDE blood to right the ship. Please, please, please no more inbred executive leaders. The inbreds have been a TOTAL disaster.
