Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Removing dedicated HR employees from a large company is never a smart thing

Removing dedicated HR employees from a large company is never a smart thing. They are just trying to save a buck because they will drop those responsibilities on to a manager or supervisor with no extra pay and expect the same job to be done.

Insert pickachu face here when they realize new hires are going to falling through the cracks and employees will have less contact for their concerns.

I just think it's really sad how they can just remove people from jobs that has been there for so many years. These people have given their time and dedication to these jobs and for them just to come in and say sorry your jobs eliminated and really really not care about what happens to those people. I think somebody are a lot of people should do something about this you know for them just to think they could come in and just cut everybody's positions is ridiculous. Now they're talking about door graders with disabilities I'm think that is called discrimination and it's terrible how they treat people with disabilities. They just look at them and think they can't do nothing without even giving them a try. But if we just keep letting them get away with that they're just gonna keep doing it.

Sadly, they will eliminate all the PTC's and then open a new position and call it something else with minimal change. They have done that with so many positions, including management, in this Company. Fresh, Front End, etc. Eliminate, retitle and keep going. The PTC position will be brought back in time with a new title. But at least they mostly got rid of all their long term associates in that position! Mission accomplished and that's exactly what they initially intended to do the entire time! I still can't believe national media has not gotten wind of all this going on inside Sam's Club. I think it is about time we speak up!

Exactly what is already happening. We had an older Associate pass away a few days ago, his widow came in for information about benefits and life insurance and not one manager could give her answers. Horrible.

Thank you so much for the kind words ! I am one of the ptc’s that is eliminated. My heart is also ripped apart from this decision home office made ! My associates are devastated that I will no longer be there to help them out , be a shoulder to cry on etc. plus they are concerned with leads and managers having their personal Information and keeping it confidential as the PTC’s did !! Anyone I tell outside of company thinks it’s ridiculous that the clubs will run without an HR person !! But we will all survive and I pray the people that made this decision know what they are doing .. it just hurts because myself and all the ptc’s I know gave their all to the job

Maybe they want to have a Robot man a Kiosk - ask a series of yes / no questions - then hire you and make you watch CBL's about how to handle customer service, merchandise, and serve the customers....all without any human interaction.....yea we will see how well that works for them especially when they don't have someone in place to flip the on/off switch for said robot.

Maybe they should change the name from Sam's - It is not Sam's company anymore..... :(

I am one of the PTC’s whose job has been eliminated. Thank you all for the kind comments regarding this position. My heart has been torn apart from this decision the Home Office has made! I love helping our associates, managers & members. I am seeking employment outside of the company & can’t emphasis enough that I will miss my Sam’s Club Family!

Perfectly said! The team leads in my club are all new and don’t even know their own responsibilities. No fault if there own! Sam’s Club does an awful job of recruiting and training. The PTC is the most knowledgeable person in our club. The managers go to her for everything. She is the most paged person on the club. She knows how to fix anything that you ask her. She helps out in other departments and never complains. Good luck Sam’s Club, you will never be able to replace our awesome hard working PTC! You might not appreciate her but we do! We hate that she is leaving but we definitely understand!

I agree 100% with what was said in the above post. You cannot expect HR to run smoothly without a "real" person to handle the issues. All I see is a future full or problems for the employees. So many associates in our club do not know how to clock in and out properly. Our PTC spent much of her time fixing their problems. I don't see managers and /or team leads doing this job as well as our PTC did. Heck, most of the TL's in our club are in a huge clique and they are never around You cannot allow just anyone to access private information either. This makes no sense.
