They dont want conversation, they want to dictate and set fear like wildfire. Great morale booster to get more people to leave before they would need to pay them some sort of severance. Verizon is great at the fear factor.

OP, I sit with the phone to my ear every morning “on a call alone”.
People tend not to bother me with more headaches when I assume this position.
I also get to hear what everyone’s talking about while they think I’m engaged in conversation.

I was instructed to go to a particular Dunkin’ Donuts one mile from my building tomorrow morning. I was to proceed to the third two-seater table from the back and, without drawing unnecessary attention, gently tilt the table leg up, exposing a key. I am then to drive to the town post office and use that key to open PO Box 271. I will then find further instruction. I am not to tell anyone.
