Why are there jobs posted internally if GM has to DOWNSIZE

This whole episode has me baffled. GM let's a bunch of good and bad folks go. Now we keep the jobs open and let the released apply. How does this DOWNSIZE the company if we are simply keeping all of the 8th level and higher by bringing them right back! Smoke and mirrors for the investors and keeping the "good ol' boys club" alive and well!!

Same old GM. Still hasn't changed. Protecting the level 8's and above. I knew the whole "we're going to get rid of 25% of the executive staff" couldn't be true. Barra was brought up in this system, she will not be the one to change the culture.

Would be interesting if a GMer would send Tucker Carlson who already did an anti-GM segment or a real journalist who cared some identity politics GM statements and videos from Socrates.... or what is going on with re-hiring only certain laid off people to transform the workforce.

If GM laid off a group of people, both black and white, and then only told the white people to reapply for their jobs and hired them back, would that be on the news?

I hope the Department of Labor investigates this obvious scam to hide illegal age discrimination.

If GM were laying off based on race instead of age, it would be on the front page of every newspaper.

That seems to be exactly it.

I know of at least one department that was told that postings would be ramping up, now that the cuts are made.

In addition, some recently let-go employees are being called about openings in the departments that they just left.

Fire an even cross-section of ages to be non-discriminatory. Call back those that you actually wanted to keep.

That's exactly it.

The main goal is to preserve the good old boys club, and get rid of older employees who aren't part of the club.

To get rid of older employees, they also laid off some younger workers to hide the age discrimination, but then told the younger workers to reapply for their jobs.

I really hope someone sues them.
