Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Prem/Wire tech layoffs coming?

Has anyone heard about layoffs for Prem/Wire Techs coming soon? I hear different people saying an announcement coming Feb 25th, March 15th, SE Region, only Florida. I know some techs and possibly managers being let go in south Florida due to falsifying documents to catch that carrot and make the bonus.

Florida is a "WARN" state meaning 60 day notices have to be filed by companies before a layoff can occur. Check this link. After opening, scroll down the middle of the page to "View WARN Notices." When the opens, click on the "2019 WARN Notices" and search for AT&T.

It will have to happen based on declining work load alone. Our Prems are lucky to get 2 jobs a day, the other 6 hours is spent on Facebook or "training". The DTV folks are busier, but 90% of that work is replacing broken remotes or bogus Upgrades that don't add to the bottom line of increased revenue.

Will this affect legacy Dtv or ip techs mostly?

@OP

I hear they will bring some prem techs into the "core" and the rest will be canned. Not sure on numbers but either way you as a prem tech win.

Used to support the IEFS organization 2-3 years ago. Right after the company stopped pushing Uverse the work dried up. Techs were running out of work after lunch a lot of days and going on training to have something to charge time to. Wondered how many times they could take defensive driving before the big shots noticed. However that organization had a lot of turnover and heard they have had a few surpluses. No idea of how things are now.

I dont think anyone knows how they will choose who goes. Union contract doesnt state any specific choice on determining how

I’m an inside tech in the MW and my manager told me that a big “field tech” surplus is coming. Don’t know dates or if she can be believed but that’s what she said nonetheless.
