"7B person with 8% merit... doesn't exist. Merits have a range from 2% - 4% MAXIMUM. 8% raise means you jumped levels." - Not True! You can get more than 4% without advancing levels. Ask me how I know! It's called exceeding expectations!

For those that were fired, I'm sorry for some good people and good riddance to others. I saw examples of cleaning house that needed to be done. The shocker was seeing good people let go that does not make sense. All I can say is it must have been a pure budget decision. The remaining ones (including myself) should count your blessings but get your house in order as I sincerely believe this is temporary. Maybe another year then we will go through this again at an even more painful level. And again and again. My amateur economist opinion is GM won't be here in 10 years. Period.

It's all good. There's a sporting chance that everyone is on the chopping block again, soon enough. People make the mistake thinking this is done, as it's been going on silently since 2016. You're only hearing about the public side of the downsizing, in preparation for the economic recession/depression that is approaching.

When that hits, imagine 2008/9 two to three fold. All the best.

This forum is about layoffs not about you getting bonuses and pay raises and new cars and whatever else you’re doing in your life do you want to be surviving the next layer off which is coming in 2019 if Randy Mart is running the show you can be assured you won’t be getting bonus next year

How does seeing anyone’s raise and bonus help those that have lost their job. Do you really think this is the forum? You’re basically saying “hey look at me, I kept my job and got a raise”. Not cool.

Now go out and buy a $40,000 vechicle. Make everyone at the company happy. I for one won't touch another new vehicle at those prices so go out and support that nice fat bonus you got. Otherwise Uncle Sam will take 50% of it before you cash it. hahahahaha. You have no idea what is coming down the pipeline.
