Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

1st Q is looking bad!!!

Lost of none pay from the credit changes and port outs. We are losing our as* in this quarter. They will see Hans can’t run any company other than into the ground. T-Mobile is going to wipe the floor with us this quarter!!! If the merger goes through we soon will be number one. Our customer service s---s In store and on the phone. Especially indirect and vendor call centers. Let’s not even bring up prepaid

Beside we have Hans... a great leader that ripped off Erickson by putting unauthorized company money in his pocket and caused the layoff of 60000 Erickso employees!!! With a great CEO like Hans, what could possibly go wrong???

@XCoJhJy-1trt I dont think consumers are paying attention to layoffs and call center closing. Price and customer service is what they care about. Verizon still has a good reputation for network. Even last quarter Verizon was better than everyone except TMobile in sales

"Unless we can do something major we will see a huge dip in our stock price."

The 5G hype was great for all wireless companies the last couple of years. They all claimed they were deploying this year. When it gets out that they are no even close yet, to a real working 5G deployment, it's going to get tough for everybody.

"Since it’s only February, I would think it’s early to say that."

That's true, but a lot of retail is perception. Verizon sounds more doom and gloom than growth right now. It seems like ever other story is about layoffs, closing call centers and stores and cutting costs. Things a dying company says.

Chances are it's absolute bs, but T-Mobile talks about growth, opening new call centers and stores, building their network and plenty of positive spin. Things a growing company says.

And they're a hell of a lot cheaper.

From what I have seen it’s looking bad for more of wireless this quarter. Unless we can do something major we will see a huge dip in our stock price.

Hmmmm if you don’t know the port out numbers your not working in wireless.

T-Mobile put a big focus on customer service-we put a big focus on outsourcing and saving short term money

People seem to think this company exists in a bubble of retail cell phone stores, towers, and call centers. This company is involved in far more and exists on a global scale.

@XCoJhJy-akb Here's a map of global network. This doesn't include the associated data centers and office buildings all around the world.

Since it’s only February, I would think it’s early to say that. What numbers as far as port outs are we talking ? And What is T-Mobile pulling in comparison to vz.

@XCoJhJy-njf What assets does Verizon have outside of US? Serious question. Also the market capitalization is already taking into account the backbone. After all VZ is 3 times the cap of TMobile and Sprint combined

V and T have both lost sight of their global transport as the greatestest asset. None of this c-ap works with out backbone.

"stop the B's and get another job if you think vz will not be around in the next 20 years....you'd be surprised!....peace"

Verizon won't be around for twenty years -- they probably won't make ten. And it has nothing to do with the quality of the employees or a "natural" death. It has everything to do with greed. The big money people make more money by gutting a company, chopping it up and selling off the pieces than they do by running a company. Hans is part of that process.

Vz has something a lot more valuable than a bunch of antennas and selling phones.......and that is something many people posting in here have no clue about it.....it's call the backbone, huge, spread out around planet, fastest on Earth, being upgraded with latest NG.....from a technology point of view it is laughable to think of vz as a cellphone services provider as a whole...most of you guys out there do not have a clue how data/content moves around.....stop the B's and get another job if you think vz will not be around in the next 20 years....you'd be surprised!....peace

And in most places TMobile has caught up with network covergae. Previously we could sell with a superior network

TMobile is growing four times faster. We can't even begin to compare with their prices. Verizon makes no effort to sacrifice profit to retain or be more competitive

Its not that bleak but Wireless is not growing and TMobile is growing faster than us. Lot of time to take control but dont see anyone doing that

It probably doesn't help that all the decent engineers are leaving VZ...many have wound up at T-mobile.
