Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

All layoff news is fake news... no layoffs at Oracle over the past 3 years

So I'd like to propose that this site is all fake news and that no layoffs have taken place at Oracle over the past 3 years. Its all just a bunch of rumors. I did look up the Oracle SEC documents 10Qs etc... and I saw over 1.1 billion dollars paid out in employee severance packages.

Not sure if that counts though, cause I didn't see anyone get walked. People have left, but I don;t know if it was voluntary or not. I have not seen an Armageddon. I only personally know of two or three people who got packages.

So as far as I can see, I don't see any impact.

Oracle has systematically been laying off experienced , high performing employees and replacing some of them with “Class of Turd” newbies since 2016. Has laid off more than 20,000 people that way. And of course hides it by not making any announcements and shifting things around so it can minimize the number of WARN notices it has to file. This is all very underhanded, plus there is the oracle fake news machine that pretends that there are no layoffs and cloud is doing great, when in reality oracle has fallen way behind the leaders. The 3 stooges could also be called the 3 liars.

I think it's fair to say any company will have some layoffs if for no other reason to get rid of poor performers. The other aspect is how it is done. I remember that after a RIF was announced at the start of FY18, an analyst asked MH how many had been laid off. His answer was none, which technically was correct because those who were RIF'd were given a month to find a new job before the were given a package. Over the years, I can't believe some of talent that Oracle has let go.

"if you are coming to this site to learn if the axe is likely to fall on you, you will never know"

I think the last time there was useful info here was regarding the 2017 Sun layoffs. And that was only because MF warned his troops.

it was 3 or 4 years ago that we RIF'd all of EMEA support to consolidate in Romania. that was well publicized. yes, the constant rumors of layoffs seem to be just rumors. there are always isolated layoffs but there are also areas that are hiring. there are areas that are not back-filling attrition and yet there are other similar areas that are hiring. if you are coming to this site to learn if the axe is likely to fall on you, you will never know. assume it will. if that bothers you, find a new job. there are no guarantees in life. no one is irreplaceable, oracle makes business decisions without regard for the individual but gives a package to ease the pain a little - but that's not a guarantee either. any company, oracle or any other, will drop you like a rock if it the business requires it. its just the way things are. the best you can do is make yourself valuable (not a guarantee, look at EMEA Support) and make sure you remain marketable by taking advantage of training. Oracle offers a lot, take a advantage of what you are offered - it benefits both you and oracle in the long run.

Well you are mistaken, I no longer work for Oracle but less than 2 years ago the ODA org cut 3 teams and reduced headcount from 64 to 32 reps. The same thing happened to other HW orgs more recently.

OP, so this never happened:12th September 2017 01:36 GMT

Oracle has filed a notice under California's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) regulations that reveals it has recently made 1,008 permanent layoffs in its Santa Clara and San Diego facilities.

Thank you for living in denial.

Tell that to the people I saw get RIF'd. I left because waiting for the axe to fall became unbearable to me. Death by a thousand cuts. Every so often they do a big cut, but there are continuous small cuts

Looks like the 3 stooges might be achieving something by not making layoff announcements after all - there are always some id--ts, like OP, who believe that because oracle did not announce the layoffs, there were no layoffs.

Then again, it’s probably Turd, or one of the people working for him with very tender 👄, who is the OP. Yeah, you guess what those tender lips are for.

Your poor id--t OP - what do you think it means that oracle has paid out well over a billions dollars in severance? You poor thing, enroll ib some evening classes to learn the basics about how this world works.

And oh yes OP, are you one of these Class of Turd kids? That would explain everything!

Over 150,000 employees globally. There have been plenty of small layoffs as Oracle’s strategy is to NEVER trigger WARN letters.

....so it’s not fake news. It’s death by thousands of cuts but they replace older, more expensive talent with younger, less expensive talent. I use that “talent” word loosely, but it is what it is.

I left because they were “managing out” many of the older, more experienced people who actually delivered results so they couldn’t fire them. However, they could make those people’s lives a living hell and they quit.

Oracle is a joke in the industry now. Very few customers buy from Oracle willingly anymore. When Larry dies, Oracle dies. It’s just a piggy bank for the SVP’s and above, and everyone else is just a pawn that is considered expendable, like cattle.

Get out now while you still have your soul.

I left Oracle for close to double the pay with much less stress at a company that actually values its employees. Oracle does not value their employees.
