Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Someone post to Hans webcast questions

Looking for someone to post to Hans webcast questions im fearful of reprisal.......

When I first joined Verizon the company culture was dramatically different. Employees cared about the company mission/vision and strived to set the bar in telecom. Over the last 5 years, since the merger of Wireline/VZB/Wireless, and the constant fear of layoffs, the culture has noticeably shifted to a different mentality. Now it seems like we are a culture of job survival and we've shifted away from setting the industry standard. Verizon used to make the Forbes "Best Employers List" and ranked in the top 100. It has been several years since we have made the Forbes list so is there any plan to improve the company culture and morale? Maybe offer us all some job security?

@1alh OP is not talking about union represented employees here. The context was morale since buyout, so I take that to mean management. They are "at will" and not protected.

@eaj, there is a 3rd choice.

@xqd, there is such a thing as job security, as many are not “at will” employees.

“When I first joined the company culture was dramatically different. Employees cared about the company mission/vision and strived to set the bar in telecom. “ - OP

Wireline outside craft continues to prove everyday that they care for the customer, regardless of the obstacles faced, and the continuous hurdles and senseless minutia placed in their way by those bean counters who are attempting to continue maintaining employment for themselves by demanding more and more useless recordkeeping, data, and other c-ap they can continue to needlessly monitor and write reports on.

Get the heck out of the way, and let us do what we know needs doing, you pencil pushing obstructionists.

I think the first sentence is choice. You want someone else to post because you are afraid of reprisals. Roflmao. So it’s okay for someone else to get fired causes your too chicken s—t to ask.

Go get a job at WM.

And there is no such thing as job security. You are an at-will employee.

I’ll save you the time. Here’s your answer: Verizon is transforming and you can adapt to the new Verizon.2 or find work else where. Ain’t nobody care about culture. Stock price is all that matters.

The beatings/layoffs will continue until morale improves.
