Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Any ideas?

Will sales be hit before or after the last round of those who've accepted buyouts is gone? I'm inclined to think that there'd be nothing in the layoffs department before the dust has settled a little bit, but everybody keeps insisting that doomsday for sales is just around the corner. Where is all that info and certainty coming from?

Retail staff reps, managers,DM and Directors are way over paid relative to similar retail positions. Many retail directors are not sales drivers. They can stare at a computer and are great at reporting and PowerPoint. There are effective Dams. However, they would not make near themoney outside VZ. Store manager can be sales drivers too. Not many of those. When they get bumped, they will not find an equivalent job or pay. Be prepared for reduction is stores this year. Agents are right there to gather up locations with much less pay and benefits.

Yes they can pay vendors to do what you can at a 3rd of the cost and they don’t make any commissions or trip incentives. I took VSP off because I have noticed over the last 4 years the company has slowly changed the payout structure to make less and then last year they took away commissions all together abruptly in May. I also notice that each year they decrease the trip allotments for top performers.

It’s coming be careful. I agree in a away we are paid well above the industry standard and great benefits but when your used to making an extra 4K a month in commissions it’s still hard to justify.

So as a result I took the vsp... I’m gone already but I still fear for those left behind my peers and union associates.

Good luck to you all!

They don’t want to be paying people commissions on top of salary as it is a line budget item they want omitted. Sales will be cut significantly by mid year according to our Director.
