Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

So tired of Union Pacific

Honestly, I'm so tired of this place that I already made the decision to leave one way or another. The only reason I'm still here is a hope to get severance. With so many layoffs taking place, I don't want to leave on my own and then find out that I could have been laid off with a package if I had waited it out.

Something tells me I'm not alone in this...

Maybe in another location they do more. That's management's responsibility to write people up. All I know, I'm hustler qualified, pick up and clean up my mess and I'm also able to work on a diesel engine and the air system that 98% of you laborers cant do.

Almost forgot, the locations that have mso in the yards in a truck will actually be the ones doing oil and water after it was found low or off the dipstick or sight glass when a machinist signed it off as good to go before leaving the roundhouse. But keep telling yourself theyre useless if it makes you feel better or think it gives you more job security.

You mean crafts used to derail.... a lot! And let's face it in addition to moving they do the sh-- we dont want to do. Like pick up after ourselves or sand locomotives.

It's not about putting out more work. i have 10 years as a machinist. I was a diesel mechanic on the outside. Except for moving locomotives, which an electrician and machinist use to do. Mso aren't really needed. MSO aren't a craft and do not do much of anything.

Why's the young bloods have to be msos gone wild? most of us younger crafts put out more work than you old timers who will be retiring soon enough and replaced by more of us. That being said and having come up from an mso back in the day, you have to be one of those who came in as a journeyman and can't appreciate the work they do.

Can't we just teared down that wall Mr. Trump, we need more immigration to run the railroad, after the layoff? And it's 10>30=20% worker lay-off.

I hope everyone quits and this place melts down. Im looking for an out like everyone else. Cant wait to see the exodus after bonus time. Funny but I think they know thisand will give stock which most wont collect on in 4 years when they quit before then.

I've been in a railroad family most of my life, my grandfather was New York, new haven and Hartford, my dad has been new haven, Penn central and union Pacific and I'm union Pacific for the past 10 years. What no one understands is that we are pawns. Just a number. Its personal to us but to the railroad its business. When we hired into the railroad we knew that lay offs could happen.

Do you really think 10% from one department and 20% from a different department equals 30%? If so, you’re as stupid with math as you are with grammar and critical thinking.

First its FG1's, Forman, transportation and MOP's, then its car dept. Fright side and yard crews "that's the 30 percent" now its Carman dept. And transportation at 20%. Seems as with you're Grammer and misspelling you are not with the U.P. elite and are just a turd looking for attention. Move on and stop spamming topics.

No, Car and Locomotive are both part of Mechanical. There is no car dept. freight side in Transportation.

Post ID: @hja+WzRIwNO

Its the same company but seperated car department freight side and transportion are together and mechanical shop is locomotives only but the cuts are going to be in car department the rest of the lay off percentage

Wow. He’s both semi-illiterate AND factually incorrect. Great combo!

First, I think he meant: “No it’s not. Car department is where they repair freight cars and move. Mechanical is where they repair locomotives. Big difference. Well, car department is next percent for 30 percent, not mechanical.” Still not perfect, but easier to read.

But what he said is also factually incorrect, since locomotive mechanical and car mechanical are both part of mechanical department.
