Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Phone and broadband markets are saturated

Phone and broadband markets are saturated - it's not a growth story anymore.

Now it's about turning cost cutting, efficiency, and making themselves look like the FAANGs (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google) as much as possible.

At the very least, they need to get their cost curve looking more like T-Mobile's, and that means firing everyone who makes more than T-Mobile employees and replacing them with people who make as much as T-Mobile employees over time.

That's. . . everyone.

@OP, this post makes me feel better about having accepted offer as IT developer in the banking industry. I got the invitation to go on the micro site for the VSP, but I was told not eligible because of my tenure. So I started looking and got offers. Market good right now if you’re IT. Part of me wonders if I should have stuck around to see 2.0, but at the same time the drastic changes scared me enough to start looking around.
