Anyone else nervous they'll try to fire us before our exit dates? I find it fishy we can't sign the agreement until 15 days out...something seems wrong.

The company can fire you for any reason (at will employees) if they really wanted to. Would they do so for an exiting employee that took the VSP, most likely not (unless something really bad happens).
To reverse the process (terminate)usually takes a good 90 days as standard performance improvement plans or HR involvement would need to devote more time to you as an individual where they are already tasked with carrying out this VSP/RIF plan. Another thing would be the amount of time that any direct manager would need to spend on speeding up the termination of someone is not in his/her best interests at this time.
A bigger concern I would advise on is take the time to read the included paperwork. Double check to see if there is verbage that states any kind of barring of future employment with either competitors or companies that marginally interface with Verizon. Get legal assistance with going over the package details if you have to.
Nope.
I was worried I would get fired right up until my last day, not because I did anything wrong but because I no longer trusted the company. When my last day came, it was f---in' glorious, and I got my severance a few weeks later.
You people are paranoid.
Lol not a troll. Was accepted 3/22 and have had multiple coworkers voice the same concern because they're changing scorecards. And yeah I guess I'm a "quit'r" when I work with a**hat coworkers like you I choose to run in the opposite direction.
I hope they do ya quit'r!!!
No, they will not.
Unless you do something really really stupid.
The lawsuit, and negative publicity would be terrible.
I call troll alert.
