The reality of working in retail

So much hate, maybe you need to find a job in another industry . Retail is a tough environment and is going to continue to get tougher with the Amazons of this world and lower reimbursement rates in pharmacy. Any company that has shareholders and reports to wall street always has to show better profit to last year. It s---s, I know but its the reality of working in retail. Be glad you don’t work for companies like radio shack and sears where you would just be unemployed because they couldn’t make ends meet in todays world. Yes , definitely s---s and everyone has to work harder for less, but a paycheck is better than no paycheck. And no one forces you to go to work. Maybe go work for a non profit or independently owned company, or even better, go pick up boxing since you want to punch people in the face to make yourself feel better.

OP by @WtbRwyg-2lju . I definitely don't agree that CVS workers should take up boxing, otherwise the original poster hit the nail on the head wit this post.

To put the orginal statement above (and reference to boxing), it was a reply to the comment below :

“The smugness of the original poster shows that they have not had to face the hardships that a majority of CVS store leaders, Pharmacist, techs, and former CVS President Helena Foulkes have had to face. Lucky you.

Yeah ok, don’t believe everything you read. Got it! But I didn’t believe CVS could make a desperate decision to merge with Aetna and agreed to the first offer put up....and put the physical and emotional burden on the lowest paid employees in the company. I didn’t believe RX sups and dm ‘s would merge to form DL’s... I didn’t believe payroll hours could be cut anymore than they already have the year after they cut it to the lowest I originally thought they could cut it the year before that....I didn’t believe CVS would cut clerk hours from 24 to 4 hours the same week they bragged about giving wage increases to those same employees. How bout that in 2015, Cvs Jesus, Larry Merlo, had the highest CEO to average employee pay ratio than any other CEO.

I’d say speculation is definitely warranted. The exaggerations and misinformation are due to the anxiety and stress cvs put us through... so yeah they should be taken with a grain of salt... but excessive speculation all at once has proven to mean something is coming.

Also, I’d like to punch you in the face.”

To which customers can only say, great! The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. The pharmaceutical industry was long overdue for price pressure in its cushy oligopoly in overcharging distressed and captive patients in distressed situations. If Jeff Bezos and Wal Mart want to bring price competition to the nth degree that's a great thing for American healthcare. It's decades overdue.

Or people who want to stay in retail can just find a better retailer to work for(there are many). Retail to me isn't tough but it is changing and its changing fast. The retailer has to execute changes to grow the business properly but CVS has failed to do that on the retail end. The only question is since CVS poorly executes change, I think during this integration CVS will be a struggle for years that will make it a horrible place to work.
