I've never been so eager to see an end to a weekend before it even properly started. Can't wait for this to be over.

Here’s a reality check bni.
The likely reason that a blindly pretentious individual such as yourself was floating in the position that you were in is because everyone else said no to it.
Don’t use it as a launchpad for your own ego, or misconstrue it as some sort of vote of confidence, one on which you ignorantly believe your inner thoughts and words hold any inkling of credence,
Go write Hallmark cards you self-appointed, deep-thinking genius.
I made some errors, typing on the small keyboard of my phone with thick fingers.
I had meant to type, “...who state the painfully obvious...”, rather than, “who stare the painfully obvious...”, but, I assume, you got my gist. I hate pretentious preachy ignoramus individuals such as you, who are so misguided as to believe that they’re in a position to offer wisdom to peers who are, in reality, equally or superiorly, intellectually equipped.
So, shut up you condescending asshat.
“...Our "next chapters" will be starting soon. My only advice is for those who will need to find a new gig after VZ is take a minimal amount of time to decompress, & process the situation (several days max). Then start the job search ASAP. Back in dot com bubble I got laid off and put off looking for a job for more months than I should have. I could afford it money wise, but mental health wise it was not good for my confidence. Okay, I'll step off the soapbox... Good luck everyone!”
Deep deep wisdom by @1bni 🙄
@1bni, I have always hated, loathed, dreded you self-appointed “adult in the room”’who stare the painfully obvious, had only you been willing to come down off your lofty high horse long enough to realize that even us imbeciles grasped the reality of the situation, and how to move forward, without you input, your (in your own small mind), “sage” wisdom.
It must have s---ed working for a obtuse, condescending drone such as you.
If you wanna continue your self-appointed guru preaching to people you obviously view as mindless id--ts that will find your drivel insightful, become a preacher.
I don't think they'll lay people off on 12/10 or 12/11. They specifically stated the timelines starting 12/28, but that could be just me making bad assumptions. I know I could use the time off but I feel they will wait til 12/28 regardless of wishful thinking.
Martha did say in the 12pm call (replay available on VzWeb) that they don't want people returning their equipment to their direct supervisor. So everyone will get shipping boxes. The reasons given is that they will be slammed with a lot of activity, and your boss would need to go through the return process for you anyways. But maybe it is a hint that they won't be asking people to stick around until 12/28.

Yes! So much this...
Some us in my neck of the woods have already prepped and packed on anticipation that 12/10 or 12/11 will be last day we need to report to work. I think this would be a win-win for VZ and VSP'ers. Most, if not all, of the rationale for why laid off folks are escorted out day of notice holds true for VSP.
I also think very few, if any, will be denied VSP and that vast majority end date is 12/28. The decisions on the VSP are being pulled from way above manager, director, ED levels, and prob even VP. This is all about cutting expenses by reducing head count not keeping people around as temporary crutches and morale killers for those staying.

Monday will s---.
"But then there are still 3 more weeks"
I am betting it will be more like two weeks. I can't see that they (HR, VP's Directors, Managers,)want to mess with "cashiering" VSP'ers out during the Christmas Holiday week when they all want to be off. I wouldn't be surprised if they had us out of the CO's,/MTSO's garages, offices, cubicles, work trucks, etc no later than Friday December 21st.
My director had call last week with his 2nd levels and we were told that everyone who put in for it, got it. I have no idea what the numbers are.
But then there are still 3 more weeks
I have never wanted a Monday to get here so fast.
Count me in. I’ll be anxiously awaiting Monday morning.
10am EST will be email from Hans...Noon - 3pm will be email from Martha(HR). The Hans email will be a standard email thanking you for your hard work and service. The Martha email is the one everyone who took VSP is eagerly awaiting.
in the words of Michael Jackson.. You are not alone!!!
10am EST!
Ditto
Right there with you!
