CVS fires its employee after stopping a thief

It sickens me to read things like this. Where is the justice? Where is the morality? A man stops a theft a pharmacy in Greenfield and his Boss fires him a couple of days after claiming that he behaved against company policies. This just shows how little they think of the everyday worker and that we are treated like commodities, not human beings.

First of all, it’s AP not LP. Second I don’t think he or she is AP because the would probably said so. Finally, you are a complete id--t.

It’s not attacking employees to enforce rules that keep stupid people from doing stupid things. Unbelievable that people like yourself still think AP has any incentive to fix the problems you allow to occur. There are no “points” or incentives other than helping you make your budget stupid.

Not one thing in your illogical response refutes what they said. You must be a thief yourself.

I agree with this lp person! Let shoplifting go and attack your overworked staff! After all that is who they are after. They get case points on everyone they accuse.

You know, I find this interesting...

In the heat of actually being in the moment - watching shoplifting erode your bottom line - a robber putting your team in harm’s way - one can see someone taking an action that they shouldn’t.

Research shows - without doubt - that going hands on with shoplifters as a policy has more risk than benefit. Even more clear is the risk of resisting a robber.

What I can’t understand is we why choose to engage in these risky behaviors, but as a whole don’t do the things every day the stop internal theft and diversion.

We’ll chase a shoplifter for $10, but won’t validate refunds. Someone will argue about a $5 coupon, but doesn’t do SRA research and perform bag checks. A pharmacist will challenge a guy with a gun, but won’t review BOH mods and never secures the safes.

I say put the effort on what you can control.

Store manager in my district chased a shop lifter down the street. Dm and LP both backed her on it. Not sure what policy is anymore.

Learnet courses and policy are pretty clear.

Where's the justice? You should know that you can't lay a hand on a shoplifter. The moment you touch a shoplifter, you forfeit your job.

Its not just cvs most retailers would have done the same thing. We already have training for this. To many crazy people in this world.

Maybe insurance reasons. If CVS didn't fire him for "violating" company policy, then it might set a precedent and other employees might try to be hero's.

Still, it is pretty c-appy.

All you can do is deter by giving great customer service 🙄 I ask if they need help and if it stops them good, if not, nothing I can or will do about it. It's not worth it.

But in the same breath, why would you stop them knowing the policy? It's not your money they're stealing.
