Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Struggling with when to announce realignment

Sources state there is still a debate about the date to announce realignment and layoffs. Accordingly this will shock the stores and DL are challenged with keeping it all together until that date is determined. It will be swift and executed in a 24 hour period. Last year it was a 3 month disclosure of information that backfired . By the end of Dec last year DM were cut, regional managers cut, area vp were cut, lp was cut, Hr was cut , training mngr cut, admin cuts at all levels , category managers cut, warehouse leaders cut, 600 lay off at corporate. The idea is to prevent the fallout caused last year by the early announcement. The 800 million dollar cost cut has already been accounted for in the new 2019 budget approved by the board members. This is the quiet before the storm

Such dumb sh--s! How do you cut 800 million out of a 2019 operating budget that has already been published to Wall Street? You must cut out your highest cost. So dumb sh--s that means people. The highest cost in business is people, their wages and benefits. Jeeeeeee ! Who is the last to know? Come now you know this one!!!!!!!!! There is only 1 hr person per area! 1800 stores. Last year one per 90 stores and they answered to 12 hr regionals that answered to 2 hr vp. All were last to be laid off after the m---acre and they never saw it coming either. So manage your one little cashier when they come in at 11. Manager (what a damn joke) team leader(another joke) hub leader ( another joke. Just trying to make you feel important, your not). Should title you do all the work punk. Maybe RX’s b--ch

Revco to CVS was apples to apples. Both being D--gstores so, there was no urgency in change over. However, this is Apples to Oranges ! A whole new animal departments and peoples (fs) are no longer needed and must make room for this new vision and in today's Amazonian environment "Things" will change Fast ! Not be fooled into a false sense of complacency.

Good Luck people

People. Use your brain. It took us years to integrate And transition Revco stores. It took us years to fully integrate Caremark. If you think that the supposed changes to our 9k stores is going to happen even next year you are nuts. They are not going to lay off managers before changing the stores, and changing the stores will take time, resources and lots of money. Last I checked we are $69 billion in debt. So where is the money coming from? There needs to be pilot programs before changes can be made. The ink hasn’t even dried yet. They can’t just shut off FS. They will continue to wind it down slowly I’m sure. But please stop telling fairy tales about manager lay-offs coming “soon”. Any logically thinking person can poke holes in this theory all day long. Just stop.

A few hours here and there? Its probably more than a few. And the DLs can easily be in the dark just like us managers. If they want to let me go then that's fine. There are still plenty of jobs in retail and even though some people look down on our jobs, not everyone is cut out for it. I have a great amount of experience and honestly would love the opportunity to tell anyone who might want to let me go how the company can kiss my a$$ and thank them for giving me the opportunity to find a better job elsewhere.

I am a DL and none of this is true. Nothing has been communicated to us, other than a modification of minimum hours stores and select stores going to every other week truck. No one has told me to enourage FS to get tech licensed other than tech demand is increasing and fa crew demand is decreasing so that makes sense. FS hours will be cut.

Again there will be no changes or layoffs! A few hours cut here and there but nothing drastic. Stop the scare tactics. Those people last year needed to go away. The district leadership is much better . Our pharmacist have never been as happy as there are today. I am in a low volume store and was told nothing new on the horizon by my DL who I trust

We were told just the other day that stores making under 30k a week will lose 15 hours in payroll and all front store staff were encouraged by our DL to start cross training in the RX and to gain our tech licenses. I had a one on one with my DL and he said he was not sure about where the company was going just yet, but encouraged me to please get my tech license and that was all he could say.

Do not buy into the DL's and the everything is fine mentality. Its not. They don't even know all the details yet. Some of us in the corporate office will be unaffected but sadly many in the field will. Its sad for those of us who have been around a long time to see so many friends let go. There is no date for anything yet but a plan in place that can be executed within days once the outside HR gets word to implement from the leaders. I have a nephew who was in the SM Foundations for leadership and let him know a couple months back about the rumors so he went into the RX tech program instead which is looking like a very wise choice. FS. Managers and supervisors stay strong your years of hard work with CVS will pay off with another employee who values you more than this one has in many years. Godspeed.

There are only a few hr partners left. An outside Hr firm has been hired as the hit men. No emotional attachment to tenured people. Just as last year you will be lied to or avoided to prevent the truth being shared, DL have only been told to prepare and since they were the weak link last year they will not be told anything until Near execution date. Target downsizing has started or realignment over to our side has been shared. Some current DL will go back to the bench and all unlicensed DL replaced by Target RMDl

Yes this is confirmed. It will take place probably the week of Christmas but definitely on/before Dec 28th (last work day of 2018). It will be covered up with positive announcements of acquiring a pharmacy located in a major mid-west grocery chain.
