Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The Last 30 Days.....

So, this is what the media/government calls a "Booming, Best Ever Economy in America!" Layoffs ONLY IN THE LAST 30 DAYS, and for every layoff reported publicly, at least 10 happen quietly or without media attention.

Major layoffs have been going on for a year or two, but until it happens to you personally, you think everything is wonderful. Well kids, It ain't and this list proves it.

Bayer 12,000

Broadcom 2000

Haagen Dazs 1000

This list doesn't include the constant bleeding of major corporations like Verizon itself, Sears, Oracle, Intel, Qualcomm, and dozens more that see a dozen here, a dozen there go every week or two in order to fly under the radar and avoid media attention.

The housing market is rolling over, as is the auto sector, and if tens of thousands of layoffs in the past 30 days isn't enough proof for you, then maybe the downturn of America's two biggest industries might get your attention.

Denial will not stop this or pay your bills. Seeing the train coming and getting out of the way will though. Stop buying stupid stuff, stop trading in your car for a new one every 3-5 years. Those who prepare now will be extremely glad they did.

Fact is the company has nothing left to cut to save money to keep profits up. The only thing left are the people. Let's get rid of some of these do nothing leaders, get rid of most of these regional people, my DM is over 5 stores, and we never see him, why do we need a DM for 5 stores, a DM could handle 15 maybe 20, boom, 3 dm's off payroll, we are so top heavy its crazy, get rid of all these do nothing people, save some of the jobs of the people that actually have an impact on the bottom line!

The tarrifs are intended to level the playing field so US companies with highly compensated union employees can compete with cheap foreign labor. There will be some pain as the market readjusts, but I'd suggest investing in domestic metal providers. Prices given for sc-ap metal should rise as well, but only as much as supported by energy costs.
