Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Functional redundancy between Farelogix and Airlines Solutions

It's an interesting acquisition. The key problem to solve is that there is a functional redundancy between Farelogix and Airlines Solutions (shopping, pricing, NDC, merchandising, eCommerce). So Sabre will have to decide between 3 options:

a) Kill the Farelogix software and move all their customers over - Unlikely that airlines will want to move to a lesser quality technology with antiquated functions

b) Eliminate the Airlines Solutions teams that overlap with the Farelogix offering - Very possible as these teams have demonstrated for years their inability to deliver anything meaningful to the market.

c) Do a proper integration and come up with a better system altogether - Very unlikely, as this will take years and Sabre will wait for a Customer to pay for it.

The sad part is that this decision will not be done based on a solid technology/financial analysis. Will be another politics war as we've seen before.

Great post by @WeuI2zj-1pdm. Whatever happens, we are in for more shifts and reorgs. Buckle up!

As far as I know - there is no good plan for it now.

Sabre cannot resign in short term from their own AS solutions even if duplicated. Current airline customers will not be so eager to change their flows, configuration & software - which would also require also a lot of training. See how many of them use older Sabre solutions because they don't have the business need to move on to the newest ones. They might also ignore the Farelogix ones.

Also at the technical level many people work both for AS and TN market and I think that it would be very hard to make such cut in a reasonable way.

Still - Sabre will probably keep some cuts of old trolls on 'safe spots'.
