Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Sabre acquires Farelogix

The company stated that it is set to acquire Farelogix for the amount of $360 million.

With the deal, SABR is seeking to roll out Farelogix’ system-agnostic solutions to facilitate end-to-end personalized digital fare marketing capabilities for airlines and agencies.

Found this to be an interesting acquisition and was hoping to get some other opinio0ns on this.

It's an interesting acquisition. The key problem to solve is that there is a functional redundancy between Farelogix and Airlines Solutions (shopping, pricing, NDC, merchandising, eCommerce). So Sabre will have to decide between 3 options:

a) Kill the Farelogix software and move all their customers over - Unlikely that airlines will want to move to a lesser quality technology with antiquated functions

b) Eliminate the Airlines Solutions teams that overlap with the Farelogix offering - Very possible as these teams have demonstrated for years their inability to deliver anything meaningful to the market.

c) Do a proper integration and come up with a better system altogether - Very unlikely, as this will take years and Sabre will wait for a Customer to pay for it.

The sad part is that this decision will not be done based on a solid technology/financial analysis. Will be another politics war as we've seen before.
