Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Looking For Your Replacement

For anyone that may be worried about impending layoffs, sleep soundly in the knowledge that GE is already looking for your replacement. Well, as long as your replacement helps to improve their diversity numbers.

These “Diversity” targets are another of the core reasons we are in the mess we are in.

If GE was truly still a “Meritocracy” why not hire the best and brightest instead of limiting the hiring pool to only a certain segment of society based on the perceived public relations advantages of hiring minorities and women.

If the core criteria is now race and gender, then we all should be afraid for the final products the company is delivering as in the end no one will care if the reason for a product’s failure is that GE was attempting a social experiment by hiring people of a lower skill set into the company to achieve a public relations goal.

"Feb 8, 2017"

That was almost two years ago.

"GE today announced goals of having 20,000 women to fill STEM roles at GE by 2020 and obtaining 50:50 representation for all our technical entry-level programs."

It's a goal talked about two years ago and applies to "technical entry-level programs" not the current "GE’s engineering staff". No laying off will help them reach the goal. None.

They should lay you off to increase the average male employee literacy.

From the article:

"Today, GE announced its goal of having 20,000 women in STEM roles at the company by 2020, resulting in an impressive 50:50 gender balance in technical entry-level positions. Right now, GE has 14,700 women in engineering, manufacturing, IT, and product management positions. "

Note it says TECHNICAL ENTRY-LEVEL POSITIONS, not 50% of all engineering staff by 2020!

The wisdom of doing such a thing is certainly debatable, but kindly READ the article and know what you are talking about before posting nonsense.

Yes, 50% by 2020.

You cannot make this stuff up. You have to experience GE’s insanity to believe it.

I thought that diversity makes us stronger. Well, that is what all the PC liberals keep saying. Might as well get rid of 90% of all white, especially men, employees and replace them with diversity hires. That will save the company, for sure.

I think it's because the event being advertised is the society of professional engineers. Carlos is just the person who posted it. But it's GE's money (that they don't have) that is being spent to recruit at an event targeting only people from a certain cultural background. I think the second part is a going a little far, but the fact that they're doing this type of advertising is callous at best.

Why are you maligning Carlos Roman? There's not one mention of "diversity" or anything else.

Racist much?
