Any corporate location in any state. That is why the class is so large (33,000) people.

This lawsuit is for all retail sales employees (solutions specialists) who worked at a corporate location over a 3 year window(about 33,000employees). So, every corporate location which means any state. The case was conditionally certified in federal court on 9/17/18.

The employee or former employee that is the plaintiff is someone I know very well. I believe this involves the corporate wide policy change from a tablet placed at the employee entrance/exit door to the mobile pos system that is locked up in the inventory rooms. That change forced employees to clock out and not be able to leave the building. Closing duties were still being done after employees were off clock. Same thing when store opened.

@Zjxn, I guess you’re trying to revive your OP.

Get a life.

No one cares.

Want overtime pay, then join a union.

Otherwise, ssshhhh!

This lawsuit seems like a bunch of bs I doubt managers made you clock out an made him clean after he was clocked out and to sue for 2 minutes while they set the alarm ? Come on

I got a letter, my understanding is that the plaintiff is referring to the time when you the SS close with a manager, and have to clock out and wait in your vehicle until the manager makes it safely to their vehicle.....unpaid training tho? That I've not seen. The closing part is for safety and is maybe 2-3 minutes tops, granted over 4+ years it adds up.....don't think I'll opt in tho

I worked with the guy who brought the suit. While I am no fan of Verizon, the suit is a steaming pile of c-ap. Everything the rep claimed happened while working at vzw is a lie. Every night when we clock we immediately head to arm the store and leave. He is just a disgruntled employee that was fired and is holding a personal grudge against his former employee. He is throwing c-ap on the wall and hoping it sticks.

I got the letter as well. I ALWAYS opt in on these. I got paid out on 2 class actions against Verizon already. Why not do it? It doesn't cost you anything and can only gain from it if the court finds in favor of the plaintiff.

Seems like it's for wireless folks. I can tell you on the wireline side, they offer us comp time in lieu of overtime ALL THE TIME! You won't get paid overtime whether you work it or not. Stuck on a call with a customer an extra 30 minutes? No overtime. Make it up elsewhere. Never really looked into the legality of it, but it seems to cross a line.

The only people who get rich in a lawsuit is the lawyer. Have fun.

this is a losing proposition for employees. any company can force you to work overtime. if you are hourly they must pay you. if you clock out and then choose to do additional work then you must clock back in beforehand or the employee is in violation of wage and hour rules. this is a desperate lead balloon.

Lots of my coworkers in Cali got it, I have yet to, makes sense though because even when in open the store there's line 10 mins or less before i clock in and after closing I'm still walking out fixing sh-- they see.

I don't think it's to any one state, the letter States there was a solution specialist that is bringing a lawsuit for unpaid time after clocking out. It says they'd cloxk out but then managmebt would say hey we didn't do this, and that they didn't pay for that extra time. If you Google the lawyers name you can read the letter. It looks like it is for anyone who was a-- between 2015 and now. So that's a lot of employees, seems like a pretty big claim to bring against VZ.

The lawsuit originated in Ohio. I'm in VA and got the letter. Doesn't seem like it's gonna be worth it.

Oh, this is interesting

Tell us more. Is it confined to a particular state? You don't have to say which state, but a yes or no would help.
