Thread regarding Barnes & Noble Inc. layoffs

More small-format stores

Looks like the small-store format must be working, since Barnes & Noble just decided to add another one. This is really not good news for those of us working in big stores, though...

I know who you're talking about. She spent most of her time firing older employees. I am surprised no one reported her for age discrimination.

It's really interesting reading this and I will add my 2 cents. I've known that DM for years and have seen first hand how she's treated her hard working managers, send them really nasty emails and then blame them for her failures and force them out. Everyone in the store thought most of her ideas were illogical and stupid.

And Nook owners would later go over to customer service and say, "That woman doesn't know what she is talking about." The corporate office should be proud.

Well, Jessica dear, you certainly don't know what that witch is capable of. She's even pitted entire stores against each other.

Most likely referring to BM - DM who is also in Mass. she is toxic, a liar, allows behavior that violates HR policies to protect certain people she can control. She is not a leader and does not value booksellers, SIMs, ASMs or Managers.

If you are referring to LN (District manager in MA), you are simply disgruntled.

She was a fantastic ally and resource for ideas in Framingham, back when i worked

in that location.

I was promoted from a lowly bookseller, up the chain, due to her recognizing

my hard work.

If B&N thinks this will work, they're seriously mistaken. Being essentially an Amazon store is not going to to cut it. Now that the holidays are over, tragic sales numbers are back.

Corporate should really fire these old district managers with bad ideas, like the one in MA. There have been more complaints about her than anyone- and that's just the customers!
