Layoffs at Big Red have generally been announced on the Thursday of a"pay week"; that being said, I'd say NO....
iswn - they would only have to payout the enhanced package if you volunteered, were denied and then laid off before 6/28. If you did not volunteer they can lay you off at any time under the "severance packages in effect at that time) whatever that means......
God I pray for a layoff but I am thinking it will be after the June date so they dont have to payout the enhanced package.
I would really be shocked if Verizon did RIFs this soon. With almost 25% of those offered the package leaving they would b crazy to do some RIFs.

Seriously? Over 5,000 gone last Friday, lots of org changes and shifting of work, no need for management to add to the chaos with layoffs right now. I personally don't expect any RIFs until after the end of June. I will be retired by then! I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to volunteer to leave with a good deal
