Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Good reviews won’t save you from getting cut

Reviews are a waste of time, they are not going to protect you from being laid off aka outsourced.

You can get the highest ratings of your reviews for 5 years, work 50+ hours a week and when the time comes for layoffs you will be let go.

Think that @WHYs7PG-1jhr worded it up good in this short post. I absolutely agree.

From that point forward, just doing my job and not being a go-getter was all I was going to do....you and everyone else that has worked at SF for more than a few years has figured that out, at least I hope they have. If you are one of those eager beavers working your butt off in hopes of a good ranking well STOP IT, STOP IT NOW. You are killing yourself for no good reason...

Reviews are are a rigged game that means nothing other than 3% or a 4% difference in pay...most of us have figured that out that reviews are a rigged game, and SF wonders why they can't get blood from a turnip...well us turnips aren't stupid.

I figured out a very long time ago that getting a 3/3, or “above expected” back in the old days, was not worth the extra raise you got. I figured out that I got about $1,000 extra and did an extra 30% more work to get it. From that point forward, just doing my job and not being a go-getter was all I was going to do.

The EPR write-ups have nothing to do with your rating or raise at SF. They never have, at least not since 2001.

The management teams sit around and rate the associates to ensure a good bell curve exists and have to sell their peers on why you should get the rating they are selling.

Then, once ratings are decided. They divide associates into various groups for raises and have target percentages (for the group). Each manager submits the raises for their team members and they run a report to see where adjustments are needed up or down to hit the target. Again, this becomes jockeying for position and if your manager is not persuasive, or is not respected - your raise suffers

Absolutely no reasoning in reviews. My best, most productive year my score went from a 2/3 to a 2/2. Worst raise ever. Then we were told that nobody even saw our EPR's before scoring was completed. It's all truly based off of who you know. As far as promotions, some are deserved but most are crazy and stunning. SMH.

No, young Tip had connections and they made sure he had good reviews.

Reviews are are a rigged game that means nothing other than 3% or a 4% difference in pay.

Kissing up or stroking as they call it in the business is the best way to the top. They want "yes" people not necessarily smart people as is evident.

Wow I can't believe Bloomington made it to the top 10 dangerous places to live. Good work but remember "State Farm is there to help you through it"

Plus the difference in a 3/3, 2/3 or even 2/3 is not worth the extra effort it takes to get a 3/3....I have always felt this way. LOL. Glad to see I'm not the only that thinks this way. Besides no one has really been able to tell me what exactly I need to do to achieve a 3/3. I have gotten different answers from every TM I've had.

Ultimately this is simply the reality of any business that is consolidating locations, etc... It may feel different from what has happened in the past with SF but as usual, SF was slow to catch up with everyone. Not that I agree with strategies and decisions made but.....

Young Tip got great reviews and moved up the ladder. Good reviews pay off.

Tough as it seems, even if you’re really good at something they don’t want done anymore you’re probably going to be gone. I think that applies to every function at the Farm.

Tough to leave when "da stok Mahler" is crashing. Tighten your belts for the depression coming. It's going to make 2008 look like the good times.

They can target you and undue decades of great reviews in less than a year. Have a plan B and exit strategy because they can let you go at any time. At will states need no reason. Don’t kill yourself jumping through their unreasonable hoops. Protect your health and do your best. Prepare. Good luck.
