Why Does AT&T's 5G Plan Cost So Much?
AT&T will charge $70/month for 15GB on its new 5G hotspot. That's less than 4G costs, but not much less. What's up with that?

The lack of speed details is a terrible sign, it is very telling, , especially because AT&T now says that its first 5G device Netgear’s Nighthawk 5G Mobile Hotspot runs on “5G+ That’s apparently AT&T’s new marketing explanation for high-bandwidth millimeter wave 5G, which its consumer 5G page now implicitly suggests won’t be offered nationwide, or maybe, maybe it does not work?
This 5G Plan Is Basically a 4G Service for Fools
AT&T admits freely that its 5G coverage is very, very limited right now. It's just dense areas of 12 cities. So the service plan is probably being calculated knowing that much of the usage is going to be on 4G. It's like steak with some shaved truffles on top: you hear a lot about the truffles, but your meal is still mostly steak.
Because AT&T felt it had to make a deadline, it threw a service plan out there that made sense with the current state of its network. The current state of its network is, mostly 4G.
AT&T Can't Support Capacity Improvements (Yet), so go ahead and pay more for less, THE AT&T WAY, LOL
Gotta pay for the interest on $180B of debt somehow
