Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Any real news on Assistants getting cut?

Very recently I'm reading here what looks to be some seriously legit information that I'm not scoffing at and dismissing out of hand. So with that said, does anyone have any real insights on what we can expect to see with the Assistants this coming year?

To the vendor: Yours was one of the BEST POSTS I've seen on here to date! I was practically re living and mind visualizing everything you described. V e r y accurate, I saw the same garbahe in my store every day. Those 'managers' acted like everything and everyone around them not directly benefitting them personally were infuriating nuisances. First they would get into it with the vendors in the store, then be screaming at the vendor's mangers on the phone. What balls.

Glad you're not dealing with that insanity any more, friend.

I am a vendor who used to service WM (thank God Idon't have to anymore). I had a good laugh whrn the COs got the ax, since most of them were worthless powertrippers. Will be thrilled to see the A---mgrs get it next. Again 95% worthless, interested only in thier own little power trip. I also service 3 other major grocery chains, allof whom have merchandising PLANS! What a novel concept! Corporate make a deal to buy X cases of product, promote it, and plan a merchandising space. Product arrives at store, management has a PLAN for where it displays and dates of said display. WM - nobody knows" nuthin". Now I have been told that some sort of merchandising plan actually exists, and frequently I would even have a copy of it. COs, A---mgrs who should be privy to these plans, well they know "nuthin" and really can't be bothered to find out. But the incompetence is less aggravating than the downright rude, bordering on nasty attitude. I've acctually seen palletsof product sit in the backroom and up in the steel for months, until it is almost out of date. As long as they were getting credit for od's no one gave a c-ap. WMs had waaay more od.s than any other accounts. Corp ordered c-ap, (ordering wasn't my job) managers b--ched about backstock, had no space for displays and all I could do was wait till it went out of date. The one CO who consistantly got his product out on display sold 3 - 4 times the product of all my accounts.

So when I hear about WM management getting axed, I say good riddance; karma's a b--ch.

Working in a NHM, the company quietly eliminated 25% of the ASMs in hundreds of small format stores in January of this year. The stores continued to hire ASMs for these stores up until the last minute, at which point the entire ASM team was displaced and had to re-interview for their position.

To the individual who says they aren’t seeing any signs, they are everywhere. Between Supercenter VP leaving and evals being mandated to be done by the end of December, the writing is all over the wall.

Supercenters most likely will see a reduction at the least, NHMs most likely will go to one ASM if they are already a daystock store. There is way too much urgency around the eval piece to suggest anything other than a calibration on who is losing their jobs. I would expect additional market level cuts and quite a lot of home office job elimination and outsourcing.

If you think I’m wrong, look at the reddit page for Walmart and take a look at the pilot stores being ran with a bunch of hourly key holders.

Had 8 new ASMs started in our market today. There is a regional event in Jan to promote more associates to the ASM position in our region.

ASMs do not appear to be reducing locally. Also ASMs yearly evals are already in the system and being completed.

In short not seeing anything to suggest any ASM reduction.

I am hearing heads will roll. department mangers, support managers assistant managers and store managers. You can tell chaos is upon us just by the recent large uptick of activity on this site this week.
