Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

How does LR for non OPEX reason is justifiable ?

In recent CISCO beats Chuck said this LR was not motivated with OPEX reduction. this is more confusing than LR itself. how come 7 to 10 % workforce become irrelevant every year.

Here is data of layoff ever since Chuck become CEO

2018 = 450 in SJC + and counting

2017 = 5500+ 1100 = 6600 = ~ 7 to 8 % of workforce

2016 = 14,000 = 20% of workforce

Total layoffs = 23,000 + ( you can reply if numbers are wrong)

That 14000 in 2016 is also proven bullsh@t from an Indian newspaper that folks reprinted as gospel. Gotta love the OP.

Good job the OP isn't the CEO. Two things. LR not related to OPEX is because a company like Cisco goes in different directions and requires different skill sets in different locations. Secondly whilst you give LR numbers you do not include new joiner through acquisitions and hires in new areas. It's really not complicated.

Better work in company which honours humans. Cisco is for share holders only.

@W3c8srf-2fqt Stop gloating - you aren't talented either. What you assume is adoration is just others just agreeing to get away from your ego.

I feel bad for the employees. Cutting jobs and putting more stress on the ones left behind. I wouldn’t stay is someone paid me.

The reason is to goose the stock price. After the repatriation of offshore money allowed the C-levels to buy back stock and hand it out to their cronies, they need to raise the stock price enough for everyone to cash in

Non growing BU or stagnant product line means LR to weed Cisco of the old so they can reinvest in the areas of growth. This causes stock to rise which investors love. Very justifiable.
