Walmart to outsource its finance, accounting services to Genpact

https://talkbusiness.net/2018/11/walmart-to-outsource-its-finance-accounting-services-to-genpact/

“The newest vendor to locate to Bentonville is New York-based Genpact, a global professional services firm, who is taking up residence inside Walmart’s corporate campus by the end November.

Walmart told Talk Business & Politics that Genpact will take over its finance and accounting divisions as the retailer continues to look for ways to streamline its business and continue investing in improved customer experiences.”

If you check the Indian job site in Bangalore, they appear to already have your jobs posted.

I would assume they will hire them and make you train the folks in India.

Then you will be out of a job. But when Genpact lays off 500 people, it won’t hit the news with Walmart’s name.

Very sneaky.

lol Walmart is NOT liberal. but keep voting against your own interests and blaming Thuh Libruls by all means. That’s what WM wants you to do, blame anyone but them for how they run their corporation.

Whatever they offer don't take it. 265 jobs in India, means less in US.

I got a nice signing bonus. My girlfriend was hired on as a Walmart temp 2 months ago and she got a offer from Genepact for a permanent role. She is happy. For me I am just gonna wait and see. But feels like they treated me fair and square. Did everyone get a offer?

@1bpd; I was there yesterday and was concerned until I got my offer. It is better than I thought it would be. I get my full bonus payout in March. Even got a nice retention in two lump sum payments. I accepted the offer this morning and looked on the bright side that it is time to learn something new. Plan to buy my kids a new swing set with the retention bonus.

Well corporations really are not Democrat or Republican. They exist to make profit for shareholders and will do that in whatever ways they can.

The only time you see corporations do things that are ‘liberal’ is when they have to by law or they think the public (ie customers) will take their money elsewhere if they don’t.

That’s why, in my opinion, Walmart does these initiatives around sustainability, US manufacturing, and Veterans. It’s also why I believe they are trying not to have major layoffs hit the news. They are actively managing public perception so as not to upset their customers with news of offshoring jobs.

To the last poster: 100% correct. And all the same goes for any democratic politician or liberal business owner----they'll say one thing to appease their supporters and customers, but act in entirely selfish manners to boost their ratings and profits.

@1agx WM is in no way liberal. They are a typical company that only cares about making money. Anything else comes a distant last like the environment and their employees. They exist to only keep their shareholders happy.

If you google Genpact, they have a ton of their hubs in India.

My bet is that over the next year, Genpact transitions those jobs to India where they can pay people less. It saves Walmart money and keeps them out of the news as having a mass layoff.

Any company with 2 million employees that has to out source their accounting is not long for this world in their current state. Something is happening to WM, and the shareholders won't like the return in a few years. WM doesn't make things, it re-sells. Genpack has to make a profit, WM will pay more for less. A great company is going down the tubes. Way to go Doug!

I am curious if there was any mention of bonuses or stock awards. If not, basically it sounds like it was a 2-week notice or take the offer scenario. Also, I wonder if this is just the tip of the iceberg for GBS. I’m familiar with other companies that were up front and paid retention bonuses to keep from losing people. Anyway, good luck to all who are affected.

All associates were given an offer letter with the opportunity to join the new company where they will not doubt be downsized over the next year. Sold to the lowest bidder for $50 and a case of Heineken. Thanks Brett! I really feel that Walmart family spirit now! Associate engagement = 0.
