I was talking to a lot of employees and contractors that I met within the company and if not in front of their immediate supervisors they all say the only thing that motivates them is money and if there is anything better they will leave. What is yours?

My own integrity motivates me. When I started, there were a number of extrinsic motivations. But most of those have faded. The number of layoffs, the quality of those laid off, so challenging to understand and process. Leaves a cloud of , “Who next?”, “When is it my turn?”. Money is not a huge motivator for me. A safe, stable environment where staff were treated with gratitude would suffice.
😂😂😂
I enjoy the luxury of loving what I’m paid to do. I’m intrinsically motivated by solving complex problems, and extrinsically motivated by being recognized for it.
What Enbridge does or fails to do hardly moves the needle for me. The work is enough.
Oh man, the IPLE guy stuff cracks me up. I like to picture him as a comedic genius who is posting these self-righteous, arrogant posts as satire.
The IP guy is a troll and he probably doesn't even work at ENB. As soon as I see it's him, I stop reading. Ignore.
Hey IP guy, if you're so smart, do you know what happened to Icarus when he flew too close to the sun or had his nose so far up ***? Get a life because it sounds like you don't have one.
This IP guy is probably lonely and has no life other than his job, which is sad. He seems to be out of touch with reality. I feel bad for him having to make himself feel better by spending his time putting everyone else down.. and by trolling this site constantly everyone should just ignore him as the relevance of his comments is insignificant to those looking to use the forum for its actual purpose. he is the Trump of this forum -making rash comments that are unrealistic and constantly stocking his own ego.
I am starting to think this IP guy is either paid by Enbridge to troll this site to sway the conversations here in different directions (power of suggestions) or a bstrd who has nothing better to do but make fun of serious conversations. The last comment was very true. For everyone who is still working here, just show up to work, don’t take anything seriously and get paid. The management thinks of the workforce as numbers and whatever propaganda they post on yammer and general media, it will be still all about the money. I learned to smile and just yes on whatever supervisors and managers say even though I don’t trust them. Because at the end of the day, everything this company does is all about the money. If you are not aware, we have lines that are very old and another major spill might take this heavily indebted company with demoralized workforce to the ground. Save as much as you can, have contingency plans in case. Operations people doesn’t care as much as the management, office based people are just showing up while there is money to milk. This used to be a great company where people are proud to be part of and envisioned themselves as a place to retire, not anymore. I am not really sure how we got here but I would start with 3 years of constant re-orgs and layoffs.
Worst analogy ever.
Everyone here is just trying to put away as much as we can before the titanic sinks.
And hopefully we don't all burn in hell for our contributions (big or small), to the destruction of the environment.
I think everyone here is motivated by money. If Enbridge stopped paying you I'm certain you'd stop showing up so it's safe to say we are motivated by money. However I am also motivated by my pride in making Enbridge a top energy company. As a member of Infrastructure Planning I also feel a kindred responsibility to use our team's unparalleled skills and knowledge to carry the company to prosperity. It's the same responsibility that a hockey team's best players have to carry that team to the playoffs when the rest of the team is not that strong. That motivates myself and the rest of the Infrastructure Planning team - knowing we are the strongest players on the Enbridge team. And we have an intrinsic responsibility and sense of motivation to lead the greater team to the playoffs, which means company success in the North American energy industry.
