Here's what happens: Position eliminated: Manager blacklisted me because I asked HR about the bereavement time allowed when an immediate family member passed...She said I was sneaky and went behind her back. The first question she asked when I told her I needed bereavement time was, "Did the person live with you"?" She said the amount of time bereavement time depended on that. This manager was trying to be HR...The reason I called HR was to ask what the policy stated. The manager was trying to enforce her own bereavement policy on me...Which was completely wrong. This manager was an appointment (a favor owed from a director to move an ineffective manager to another region) that was unsuitable, unqualified, and very unprofessional. Good Luck...

It amazes me how common it is for the store management team to make their own policy on what they "feel" the store employee "deserves". But whenever it comes to themselves or their "buddies" then they can come in late, leave early, and miss entire days with pay for any BS reason.
Reminds me of the “Good ole days” as a B2B sales mgr in 2004. New hire B2B sales rep (former Admin to Reg Pres, never in sales - lucky me!) questions her ramp up quota. My AD says its right. She goes to HR without telling me who say its wrong. Her quota is adjusted but because I had signed the quota acknowledgement sheet after AD said it was right, I’m on hook for the higher quota. I loved my job!!!
Been a long run, 20+ yrs, still in sales. It’s a pendulum - sometimes swinging your way, other times against. Just ride it out. The grass IS NOT always greener - find a niche, work hard and things generally work out
Where the person "lives" has no bearing on Verizons policy.
