Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Can you hear me now?

Gonna cut to the chase here. This company just denied the last 2 weeks of November for my leave. Curious as to how they think I'm going to be able to put my newborn into daycare when he isn't even old enough yet for his f---ing vaccines. But after those 2 weeks I can take my leave. Okay, not gonna work for me.

Does anyone know if they can deny FMLA? Because that might be the route I have to take here.

This company is absolutely disgusting and completely unstable. I had to vent and let people know how truly appalling this place is. The fact that companies value black Friday as a "holiday" over bonding with a newborn child is absolutely sickening.

Don't worry if you are a breeder verizon finds some way to reward you and raise others insurance and RIF childfree to feel less guilty. You probably think you are green throwing all those diapers and dog c-ap bags in the trash!

Sending good thoughts your way OP. I hope you get the buyout! I wish I was eligible but am getting screwed over by the Infosys deal.

fmla gives you job protection just not pay. Fill out the forms online NOW for the Care of Newborn Leave ( if you are in NJ)

Verizon denied me, not sedgwick. The director of the site won't approve it. I could understand coming in on black Friday that's fine it's all hands on deck and the day after, but the entire last 2 weeks seems a little ridiculous to me. I didn't try to time having my son during this time, however I literally can't even put him in daycare until he has his shots. The issue I have is that they have approved it for other people until now. This is the first time they have ever denied it. When you're trying to get rid of 44,000 people they better expect to be busy.

Hopefully they approve me for the buyout and I can get the hell out of here.

I’m empathetic but you want off during Black Friday in retail. Nearly every retail company has “blackout” dates during the holidays.

FMLA may protect your job but you will not receive any money while you’re out.

Find a job that allows you the flexibility you need for you and your child.

This is pretty common. You are probably missing paperwork, your doctor's office messed up a section of the leave form, they are missing specific information they need to process the claim etc. Be persistent and patient in talking to them and providing what they need. They cannot deny you parental leave it is a company policy and your rights outlined in the law.

I remember 12 years ago when I had my first child they flat out denied my claim because of my leave date not matching the actual due date. My doctor had to certify that it was medically necessary and fax new forms which they approved.

I know it's a pain having to spend precious time on the phone with them and your doctor's office but they will approve your claim. Congratulations!

Did Verizon or Sedgwick deny you? I’m coming back from parental leave the last week of November.

1st check you state rights which may be stronger than FMLA. If not then FMLA is what you need. Research it and then request is SPECIFICALLY. You can get whatever proof you need that you had a baby.
