After three plus years of striving to maintain optimistim in spite of multiple work force reductions, reassignments, lack of direction, lack of support, losses in benefits, etc.; I have finally reached my own personal tipping point. My questions now are:. How does a person overcome burn out? Try to care when your Company could care less about you, rebuild any sort of trust and motivation in this ongoing and seemingly never ending time of re-org / rebuild? I am really struggling to "Give a damn"!

I wonder if they're blinded to it because nobody tells them... lol. They must live in a weird world where everyone nods and smiles at whatever comes out of their mouths. I mean really, where would they be getting even a tiny dose of employee reality these days? Any time I've seen them out and about with the "commoners", it seems to be a carefully orchestrated event where they are ushered from one place to the next and doted on by various people who are falling all over themselves like they're dealing with a celebrity. And of course, someone follows them around with a camera to be sure to document them throwing crumbs to the plebs to publish on Yammer later.
The speak up culture died years ago. Water cooler talk culture or complain to trusted coworkers is more like it. Complaints galore but everyone is too afraid to say anything to people leaders let alone directors or VPs. It’s like the executives are blinded by the money to see how bad it is.
That’s rich. In no way does Enbridge have a “speak up culture.” Time and time again, I’ve watched employees who cared enough to bring up a controversial subject get laid off or fired. Now no one speaks up. Why would the?
I’ve also watched CH humiliate anyone stupid enough to disagree with her. So why would anyone speak up with her in the room?
Yeah, everyone complains like crazy about certain policy changes and decisions, but very few people speak-up about it, even at a higher level. No one wants to be branded as a squeaky wheel or complainer right now. As a result, the people who are actually tasked with rolling-out this sh-- always have the now classic “HR two face”... The WE rethoric on one side and “don’t blame me for this steamy turd of a policy” on the other.
Speaking of the lack of speaking up... the was a thing on Yammer the other day about CH speaking at an external event... apparently the topic of her speech was Enbridge’s “Speak Up Culture” and how the D&I focus makes everyone comfortable with sharing their perspectives. I literally LOLed when I read about it. I assume speech writing services have been the latest thing outsourced to India... no way anyone who actually works here would write such a thing.
Also funny to see our leader out claiming to be progressive in D&I they can’t even maintain 30% female representation and females are bailing out much faster than men. I also noticed they never bothered to edit the video recording of the now famous Office-tv-show style s-xual harassment presentation intro at the All Company Forum, so women can go back and relive that great moment in our company’s history.
The people making the big bucks deserve to be miserable. They are the ones who created this mess by either an active role or just nodding head and playing along for their fat checks. Not one person speaks up in high level management meeting against the stupidity and I go to quite a few
I don’t know if anyone actually enjoys working for Enbridge anymore. Even the people making the big bucks seem miserable.
To the OP, why do you want to give a damn when the sh--ters I mean leaders of the company dont give a damn and they get paid millions..... If it's for your inner peace then go for it but realize you giving a damn is why and how the management survives their poor performance bc you clean and fix their mess
