I'm almost 51 y/o with 23+ years at Verizon, and will likely take the package. I have a fun side gig underway that I can ramp up into my new career.

51 with 27 years...considering it. I’m testing the waters first to see if I would be able to quickly get another job. I have to say, so far, the Atlanta area is looking like there are plenty of opportunities.

Dude, you literally asked a question you know the answer to! Here is a rough estimate of how many people 50 or above are taking any package: 0. Reasons why include: no educational background or IT skills that would translate to a new job, they live beyond their means or didn’t prepare for retirement so taking any level of pay cut would not be suitable, and many don’t put in a lot of effort currently and coast on the coat tails of the union where a real-world job wouldn’t allow that.

it is just a weird age to young to retire but will be very hard to find another job. I am 52 with 29 years in not sure what to do
