Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Different environment in the branch

I feel sorry for all of you back office jobs waiting any day to get your notice. The root off all of these issues began in the branches, but as the face of WF, I believe we will be the last to receive a notice. Even though they’re closing or selling off branches in the slower markets, there is literally a staffing crisis going on even in the high deposit areas as well. Not enough bankers/tellers. Branches are constantly asking other branches for coverage. There are customers walking in wondering where everyone is. Asking us if we’re getting laid off. People waiting in chairs, frustrated because they have to wait 25-30 minutes for someone to help them do something they could have done at home such as balance their checkbook or reset their online banking password. I am of the belief that as long as people are getting old, they will continue to keep bankers/tellers employed because we are the face of the company. If there is no face to help these aging customers, there will be no company. No matter what you do, the elderly will never fully adapt to the ever changing ways of modern technology.

I’m in marketing. I KNOW that the company could not care less about older customers unless they’re extremely wealthy. It’s all about millennials and digital banking now. If you want a branch they don’t want you.
