How long until all the cloud devs, pms,and managers from amzn and msft get laid off?
Oracle sure s---ed up a lot of people, and paid a lot for them- not clear what the heck they even need them for

Might have to explain what possessed them to take a job at Oracle.
..... or maybe they were looking for a way out of amazon, maybe they aren't the best that amazon has to offer.
If the stock tanks, they will be gone. Unfortunately, they are going to have to put oracle on their resumes. What a let down after working elsewhere. Might have to explain what possessed them to take a job at Oracle.
I wonder what the cloud engineers who left AMZN and MSFT to come to ORCL are thinking now. I wonder how many would make the same decision today.
But vesting is what, 4 years? So they have loke 2-3 years (since bulk of hiring was like 1-2 years ago)?
I'd estimate that most of the talent that was lured away from Amazon/Microsoft came in for the promised bonuses/stock and will leave once they receive the bulk of those payments.
If these people are competent, they are most likely extremely uncomfortable working at Oracle. They will leave as soon as they possibly can, once everything they can get vested, has vested.
At the current rate of stock buybacks, Oracle has limited time to find some way of offsetting its struggles with Cloud. IMO, they'll force enough of their eBusiness customers into the SaaS model and some of their database customers to the DBaaS offering to keep cash flow going, but growth (especially in IaaS) is going to be elusive. Therefore, it will come down to what an individual is working on -- whether it is tied to an area of the business that is making money -- and if the skill set a person has is unique or if it is easily replaced by new graduates/offshore workers.
