Do Secret Shoppers still visit the stores??

I'm a former refugee of #1003, left after the great thinning of the managerial heard of August 2017. Went to my old stomping grounds a few nights ago, walked the track and passed multiple employees who were new to me, but didn't get greeted until I made it to the end which is Health and Beauty (Harmon's) department. The store itself looked relatively clean and organized which was refreshing. I'm told the new store manager also has three or four other stores under his authority. That sounds so bizarre? A store without a leading store manager?? Isn't that a district Manager?

Yes there are a fare amount of Area managers (they. Are in their store 3 days a week and In another 2 the other 2 days- though some may have a total of 4 including their own. They did this because there have been some DMs who are leaving and they gave each DM more stores. But some stores are very “out there” or remote from the rest of the region so they assign an AM so that DMs can still visit their stores on a normal basis. And now the AM’s report directly to their RMs instead of a Dm. There will be no more secret shopper after this qtr. They are uncertain if they will replace it with some other program (like scored visits from DCSTs and what not).

Yes, my store still gets pushed heavily on it. We still get shopped and then when results hit becomes a daily huddle discussion.

We’re so stretched, we’re lucky to get above an 85 on mystery shops in our store. There’s not as much pressure to perform well on mystery shops anymore and I think it has to do with Corporate realizing that the service expectations are out of line with what a store can reasonably offer.

My store manager was an area manager like that also. He had 2 other stores and this was before 8-3-17
