I wouldn’t move up unless you want Store Manager. You will be signing your life away.
I didn’t mean to sound “nasty.” I believe it’s just not the answer you wanted to hear. That job doesn’t have “perks” like it used too
15 years ago. It’s not based on if you apply it’s who you know and if you’re in the loop!
Are you in the loop? If not maybe you will get another store to take you, it’s all on who you know.
I tired a few times. Gave up. Been with the company 13 yrs. it is all in who you are.
Those promotions are 100% politics.
I have a college degree, previous retaile xperience and, at the time I tried for the assist. job, I'd been in my store for over 5 years. The District HR guy told me I didn't 'have enough of the right experience' to make the cut.
This was as there was a 'minority' assistant who had dropped out of high school and spent 40% of her time on maternity leave and another female assistant who was dumb as a stump---literally couldn't do basic math. I never bothered with it again, and actually soon got the fk out after that.

Desperate people
People with no life
People that like to work and be on call
People that like working every holiday
People that enjoy no appreciation
People that like being short handed
People that like dealing with “joke mart” clientele
People that like dealing with a lot of new associates
People that get vacation locked and can’t take it all year around
