New Benefits Cost Sticker Shock

Just read the annual enrollment material and saw the cost associated with the new plans. Wow! Being Legacy Spectra there is definitely sticker shock at the cost of the plans, especially medical. The cost is going up for the family plan by over $100 per paycheck. Dental and vision have also gone up. I have not heard any spin or announcement on this so I'm sure many people will be in for a huge surprise. I figured the cost would go up some, but never imagined by that much. Yet another cost we have incurred with no adjustment in pay to compensate or can even hope to keep up with in our 'raises'.

The 2.5 % match of Employee share plan goes into flex credits just to buy benefits for you and your family.

So only thing get is the 2.5% of your own money going to shares.

At least with Spectra we spent 5% for shares and the 5% from company went to shares.

Not into flex credits and ate up for benefits.

2018 get 10% in shares.

2019 get 2.5% in shares.

There is. A 7.5% pay cut

Thanks Al.

Nice try HR troll. I think you are forgetting that we had an Employee Savings Plan before and the company match was higher and paid in stock.

Price tag increase is half the story... price tags are higher but the company is also giving families more flex credits to offset those costs. Makes sure you look at the entire package vs cherry picking.

Whatever you do, keep your mouth shut. Don’t complain. Bain has instructed AM to eliminate the whiners, as they are not fit to be part of Enbridge’s journey.

Legacy Spectra taking a pay cut with these new benefits. By the way, don’t forget to contribute with one or three working days to United Way!

Nothing to see here folks. Plan is good. Don’t expect any mention of cost and going up. That’s all under the rug.

Spin you say? Get ready to hear how great the "total compensation package" is. HR loves to throw that one out as they erode pay and benefits and keep you razzle dazzled along the way. Why keep what people liked and could rely on when you can save a few bucks and piss everyone off?

I had the same reaction. Mega lame. What do you call the part of the grief curve where you and your BU perform awesomely and you are rewarded with a “raise” that is less than inflation (and therefore actually a pay cut), your STIP is meddled with by the ELT for shady reasons, you find yourself with sh--tier benefits and pension, work an extra half hour a day unpaid, and have your title downgraded to some sh--ty nonesense? I figure them covering some sessions with a psychologist is to help us work through our attitude problem.
