If I ask my mgr for a pay cut of 10%, will this keep off the LR list? How about going on PTO for 3 weeks starting from next week? I don't think people on PTO can be LR'ed. Anybody tried these tricks? Share other tricks to beat the LR.

If you take PTO, you will lose that money. Save your PTO. You get cash for your pto if you get laid off. If you are getting laid off you will regardless of pto.

Paternity / Maternity Leave can save you. I had a coworker go on Paternity leave the week before LR, he came back 3 months later with a job. The entire team (including management) was impacted. So there are ways, but you have to plan 9 months in advance.
maybe OP is on h1b. if he/she gets LRed, he/she has to go back to his/her homeland.
