AT&T I&R Technician Positions Leaving the Northwest Arkansas Area by the beginning of 2019

Our manager and his boss just recently told us at a morning meeting that our Installation and Repair (I&R) Technicians will be leaving the Northwest Arkansas area by the beginning of the 2019 new year. They both said that the people in these positions would be offered to become Premise Technicians like the rest of us.

Don’t worry, the cable plant is in poor condition due to management decisions and residential internet/voip combined with business internet/bvoip orders are still being created. It will take time to cut customers to fiber so the daily work still needs to be done. Management looks bad if due dates are missed. Keep going to work and collect your paycheck.

Not true..all pay protected Prem Techs will be moved back to TFS..while 75 % of the remaining Prem Techs will be Surplus..Keeping a few on for video only work.

The Premtech position will I&R work in addition to current duties. Just without I&R pay. I&R demoted to Premtechs will keep their current pay, but will have a freeze on top pay.

I doubt anyone is "leaving". The work will not just disappear. Sounds like they will just be doing the same work under a different title.

If that happens, who will do the repairs, or helper tickets, or even pots tickets etc...?
